Chichén Itzá & Ek Balam

Book of Mormon 11–12 hrs

Overview

Two of the Yucatán's most remarkable Maya cities in a single extraordinary day. We arrive at Chichén Itzá early — before the crowds — giving your group an intimate encounter with El Castillo, the Great Ball Court, and the Sacred Cenote. Juan Carlos delivers a rich Book of Mormon commentary that transforms every carved stone into a living testimony. From there, we drive northeast to Ek Balam — the "Black Jaguar" — a far lesser-known site where the intact stucco reliefs of the Acropolis are among the finest examples of Maya sculpture on the planet. Two worlds, one unforgettable journey.

  • Early arrival at Chichén Itzá before tour buses — more space, better photos, deeper focus
  • El Castillo, Great Ball Court, Sacred Cenote, Temple of Warriors — LDS scholarly commentary throughout
  • Ek Balam's Acropolis stucco reliefs — among the finest intact Maya sculptures in existence
  • Traditional Yucatecan lunch at a local restaurant between the two sites
  • Cenote swim at Ek Balam — an optional crystal-blue pool just steps from the ruins
  • All entrance fees, transport, lunch & beverages included — no hidden costs

8:30 AM

Chichén Itzá — gates open

Arrive at the New Wonder of the World as the site opens. Juan Carlos leads an immersive LDS-focused tour of El Castillo, the Great Ball Court, the Sacred Cenote, and the Temple of Warriors — connecting each monument to scripture, prophecy, and the history of the Nephite people.

12:00 PM

Yucatecan lunch

A full traditional meal with cochinita pibil, sopa de lima, handmade tortillas, and unlimited fresh aguas frescas in a cool, shaded restaurant between the two sites.

1:30 PM

Ek Balam Ruins

Arrive at the "Black Jaguar" — one of the Yucatán's least-crowded major sites. Climb the Acropolis for a spectacular view and study the extraordinary intact stucco reliefs, including the famous winged figures that ring the tomb entrance. Juan Carlos continues the LDS scholarly narrative here.

3:30 PM

Cool off at the small crystal-blue cenote just outside the Ek Balam site entrance — a perfect refresher before the drive home. Life jackets available on site.
