Book of Mormon

Coba is known for having the highest temple in the Yucatan Peninsula.  It is a place where nature and the  historical remains of a great civilization blend together harmoniously.  Coba is famous for its many “sacbeobs”  (Mayan trails) and stellae featuring original Mayan writing.

With their extensive experience, our professional LDS guides will take you back into the past of this marvelous city in ruins, whilethe great works of this highly advanced civilization will bring you back to the present.

After completing an unforgettable bicycle tour through the ruins of these enormous structures, it is time for a refreshing dip in the cenote called Tamchach.  You’ll be unable to resist the temptation to immerse yourself in the crystal clear water.  Jump off one of the two diving boards into a pool built by the whims of nature – a unique treat in the Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Coba region.

You won’t want to miss lunch on this trip, so we have prepared a delicious midday meal featuring typical Yucatecan food: oven-roasted pork and fish, lime broth, chicken and beef fajitas, Yucatan-style marinated chicken, juice, water and soft drinks.

Contrary to what many people think, the Mayas have not disappeared; in fact, many modern Mayan descendents still live in the Yucatan Peninsula.  A brief stop in an authentic Mayan pueblo will help you understand their true lifestyle, traditions and language as you admire the beauty of their handicrafts.  But the best is yet to come!  The Mayan tropical forest has many secrets to share, so we will trek inside the jungle to witness the grandeur of the Mayan culture and its imposing buildings long abandoned to the forest and as yet unexplored by archeologists and Mayan scholars.

You will be amazed by the incredible birds and the large troups of spider and howler monkeys.  Finally, you won’t want to pass up the exciting opportunity to move quickly along the tops of the trees to the edge of a beautiful lagoon where you will have a panoramic view of the jungle and nature at its best.  Without a doubt, this will be a spectacular end to an unforgettable day.
