TULUM MUYIL SIAN KAAN BIOSPHERE RESERVE LDS Activities
With all the experience of LDS Tours Cancun By Mormon Encounter to back us up, we invite you to visit a unique, exceptionally beautiful part of the Yucatan Peninsula’s Mayan World. Come visit Tulum and its impressive walled city and learn its vast history as you enjoy a spectacular, one-of-a-kind view of the Caribbean Sea. Allow the professional guides from Mormon Encounter to explain the meaning of Tulum’s beautiful murals, stucco figures, and symbols as they relate to the Book of Mormon.
During this same tour you will also visit Muyil, a small archeological site that boasted its first inhabitants around the first two centuries of our era. This makes Muyil older than Tulum and the same age as the great Chichen Itza archeological zone. Much of Muyil still remains concealed by the jungle undergrowth, which gives it a unique touch.
In Muyil the remains of a Mayan Sac Be, or “White Trail”, can still be found. We will travel a short, one kilometer distance along this white trail until it turns
into a path that guides us through the different ecosystems found in the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve. Our private boat will be waiting for us at the end of the path, to guide us along the same open water canals travelled by the Mayas more than 500 years ago. The first Spanish conquerors were able to witness the splendor of these canals, which continue being used even today by Mayan fishermen.
Then it will be time to cool off, so everyone is invited to put on their life jacket and jump into the refreshing waters of one of these canals. You will be carried along by the slow, relaxing current while doing some quality bird-watching and enjoying the view of tropical vegetation and even a few Mayan temples along the way. Your tour plans should definitely include this opportunity to visit the world-famous Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve!
